An archaeological survey carried out in 2010 at “ La Cour des Artisans ” in La Riche (37) revealed a pit with a cremation deposit from the beginning of the 2nd century AD. In addition to the debris of the pyre, this tomb contained two ossuaries in glass urns sealed by ceramic pots. Deposit of the two urns seems to have occurred at the same time. Analysis of different body parts in the ossuaries and in the pyre debris suggests that it contained only one adult. The total weight of the osseous remains is much lower than expected according to reference tables published. Partial removal of the remains therefore occurred and, potentially, a selection was made of the osseous parts for burial. Finally, comparison of the rate of fragmentation shows...
